Indoors or outdoors around the year
The accommodation alternatives for those wishing to sleep indoors is the Historic Log House Charm, the Main Building, the Guest House and the Small Granary. The alternative outdoor sleeping arrangements are the Log Lean-to and the Million Stars Hall.
Indoors
Historic Log House Charm
“Järvinen has brought rye grains for five bags” claimed the text in the side of the grain storage with counting numbers. From beneath the eaves upstairs we found a few liquor bottles – empty though. This is how it started, the storages transformed into beds and the liquor into spring water. Historic log house Charm provides empowering sleep for you.
The historic log house has been built between 1800 and 1850 from handcrafted mighty logs. The building is a cultural site for 200 years. At the beginning of the 2000s, it was renovated by us into a personal accommodation for all year round. Now the house is called Historic Log House Charm.
Our rooms are real places for resting, sleeping and meeting with yourself or your friends. Our rooms are not trying to be “micro apartments”, where a bedroom, a kitchen, a living room, showers and a lobby are inside the four walls, like in traditional hotels.
Log walls, plank floors and ceilings, which give off sempiternal energy and it guarantees the rooms fresh air. Heating with warm water is smooth and keeps the woody fragrant air fresh.
Responsibility in our rooms is important to us. We do not use the smelly chemicals and there are no televisions in the rooms, so the electromagnetic radiation is rather low. Our dry toilets save clean drinking water and our carpets and wall hangings are hand made out of natural materials.
What to expect
- four rooms that each accommodate up to three persons
- the dry toilets at each room with the running warm and cold drinkable spring water
- in the historical building lighting candles is not allowed
Showers are available in the next building by following a Magdalena Nature Stone Path, adjacent to the sauna.
“I was very satisfied with the services and food in Nukula – in advance I was a little scared of living in the 19th century cabin, but it was WONDERFUL, just fantastic! So I did not have enough imagination beforehand to understand that the cabin can be such a lovely and warm place in cold November. Small charming details were particularly memorable, such as moon phase –cups, the presence of elements in the names of accommodation facilities etc. Lovely unity…”
The Main Building
The Main Building is the log artifact from the period of 1920’s, which is available during all seasons. From its highest elevation and warmest location, it overlooks the whole courtyard. The windows are the eyes of the property’s soul that stare out and observe its surroundings.
With love, it invites you to stay overnight and to enjoy real Finnish food. The spirit of the building envelops a sense of oneness.
We have renovated the Main Building a lot. In 2013, we started with the downstairs bedroom, by changing the thermal insulation of the floor and walls. The living room of the Main Building underwent the biggest renovation in 2014-2016, all fireplaces and the floor were rebuilt. And finally, in 2022 the porch was rebuilt too. The whole process was done by hand, respecting the old building. Thus, the Main Building breathes the atmosphere of more than a hundred years ago.
The Guest House
“If you love the smell of flowers, early birdsong and a bright summer night, the guest house is for you.” The guest house is eager to accommodate, even though it is the only building we have built in the 2000s on the estate. It will hold its own when it comes to fulfilling your eco-travel dreams. As a noble and ethical building, it presents itself culturally alongside the old buildings! The Guest House offers accommodation for two from spring to autumn, when the night temperature is above 5 degrees all the time. Guests use the ecological, water-saving dry toilet in the Main Building.
Book separately for breakfast: Porridge breakfast, Bun and coffee or Coffee.
The alternative is available when the outdoor temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius, from spring to autumn. The Guest House accommodates 1 or two persons. The ecological dry toilet with running warm and cold drinkable spring water is located at the Main Building. The showers are located in the building next door.
The Small Granary
“The Small Granary will choose you carefully!”
The Small Granary, with its back to the natural yard, is like a cat. Independent and proud in its own glory, it wraps you in a blanket of sustainability, even though it’s tiny. From spring to autumn, you’ll achieve undisturbed private sleep. Guests use the ecological, water-saving dry toilet in the Main Building. Book separately for breakfast; Porridge breakfast, Bun and coffee or Coffee.
Outdoors
The Log Lean-To
By the Log Lean-to you are between the earth and the sky! The spirit gives you unforgettable dreams, if only you could close your eyes in the glow of the open fire.
The surrounding of the Log Lean-to is filled with nature sounds. You enjoy the light, warmth, and sounds maintained by the campfire. The miraculous rocks and the presence of wilderness Lake Päijänne sparks mystical and mysterious stories in you and in the members of your group. Immediately in the captivating atmosphere, you won’t put your head on the pillow, because the nocturnal hum is something you want to hold on as long as possible.
The Log Leant-to was built by hand in the early 2000s from huge logs, so it works as a large carbon sink. Next to the lean-to there is a dry toilet, made of logs too.
The Log Lean-to accommodates maximum ten sleepers. The breakfast can be enjoyed, if purchased, at the log-lean to or at the Main Building.
The Million Stars Hall
Morning dew on toes, jumping from a stone to another, throwing yourself on you back in snow or moss. The tree speaks if you dare to listen. This is how Mother Earth takes care of her child.
Come and enjoy what Mother Earth has to offer by meeting, refreshing yourself or staying in the Million Stars Hall. With your feet firmly on the ground and the air current fluffing your hair, your mind will lighten up and your thoughts will open – new ideas start to sprout and grow a crop. The atmosphere in the hall is created by the lovely chirping of birds, the rustling of animals, the starry sky and maybe even the Moon, if you only have patience to listen and to watch.
Choose the place where you will set up your Hall yourself. In any case, when you stay in the Million Stars Hall your ecological backpack is extremely light.
Six hammocks are available. Protect yourself from insects with a net and a sleeping bag. Of course, you can also use insect repellent.
